Alloy rims: BBS , is glad about the Formula 1 World Championship,
together with Ferrari and Michael Schumacher. Klaus Baumgartner,
responsible for Marketing and Design: “To be world champion
already after eleven races, this is totally unexpected.“
The victory in Magny-Cours on July 21, 2002 brought the "championship-hattrick“
for Schumacher and the Scuderia Ferrari. Driver’s and
constructor’s world championship could be defended successfully
- already after eleven of seventeen races. For Schumacher
it‘s the fifth world championship - and all of them
have been won on BBS-wheels. Congratulations on that success
and his unique career.
With the high-quality wheels from BBS the world’s fastest
driver reaches his goal, but with a considerable difference
compared to the past. Lighter but even greater stress - this
was our task to be fulfilled. Exclusively for Ferrari a new
wheel has been developed with seven slim spoke-pairs, instead
of ten. The front race wheel meanwhile weighs less than 3
kilograms. The extremely light wheels are of the utmost importance
- in racing even the smallest weight advantage can reduce
decisive fractions of a second to win the race.
This year, the partnership between BBS and Ferrari is being
celebrated its tenth anniversary. This has been honored by
Ferrari with the “Ferrari Innovation Award“. On
June 25th, 2002 the award has been handed over to Heinrich
Baumgartner, Chairman and founder of the BBS company, by Luca
di Montezemolo. "This is the result for the development
innovated solutions for best-quality wheels for Ferrari F1
and Ferrari - Maserati GT vehicles“.
